ECOSHOCK —Healing Green Despair?

billionaires and the climate challenge — A new green biography of eco-billionaire Ted Turner, with author Todd Wilkinson. Kathleen Dean Moore offers a medicine for green despair. Writer and owl biologist Tim Fox sees humans as the unstoppable flood.

CNN founder Ted Turner has funded over 1,000 enviro groups. As the second largest land-owner in the United States, he has reintroduced bison, wolves and grizzly bears, as re-wilding.

Turner’s solar energy division is putting up huge plants, one large than 200 coal plants in the US.

Ted has brought oil man T. Boone Pickens and mega-investor Warren Buffett into climate reality. He’s working on the Walmart heirs, who are greening their stores.

Kathleen Dean Moore finds inspiration on a 93 degree hot Alaskan night on how we might just be able to turn around the river of despair over climate change.

Author and owl biologist Tim Fox, from the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, has his own vision of a great river of ages past, that shaped the badlands and much of the West. We’re more like that, he says.

Speakers: Todd Wilkinson, Kathleen Dean Moore, Tim Fox. Wilkinson interview by Alex Smith. Tim Fox interview by Alex Smith. Podcast interview from Orion Magazine, with Kathleen Dean Moore and Assistant Editor Scott Gast. www.orionmagazine.org
