Project Censored

Death by Cop

This week’s program looks at deaths of civilians at the hands of police, and in jail. Project Censored research has discovered that official federal statistics greatly understate the number of civilians who are killed by police each year. The guests examine police killings, as well as the increasing militarization of local police forces.

The guests are Roderick Bradford, author and filmmaker, and Tom Flynn, editor of Free Inquiry magazine. The program includes excerpts from the documentary film, “American Freethought,” produced by Bradford and Flynn.

Speakers: Karen Saari, Diana Grant, Francisco Vasquez, Dylan Avery. Theme music: “We Want” by Junkyard Empire; break music: “The Watcher” by Dave Holland (album: Prism); “Praxis Makes Perfect” by Neon Neon (album: Praxis Makes Perfect); “Magnetica” by Quantic (album: Magnetica).

Broadcast from Berkeley–Hard hitting News and Public Affairs with hosts Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips of Project Censored. Producer: Anthony Fest. The mission of Project Censored is to teach students and the public about the role of a free press in a free society and to tell the News that Didn’t Make the News and Why. This show was broadcast Live on KPFA last Friday.
