Project Censored

Banned Books Week

Famously liberal Marin County, California should welcome affordable housing and non-polluting transportation, but does it? Three Marin housing activists say Tea Party members from outside the county have intervened loudly to obstruct planning processes, and have also recruited allies among local opponents of growth. How did housing activists manage to prevail in some cities? Today’s program is a case study about local politics, housing, and community organizing.

Speakers: Wendi Kallins, Samuel Tepperman-Gelfant, Chris McManus. Co-host Mickey Huff will return next week. Theme music: “We Want” by Junkyard Empire. First break music: “Street Knowledge” by Lord Echo (album: “Curiosities”). Second break music: “Magnetica” by Quantic (album: “Magnetica”).

Broadcast from Berkeley–Hard hitting News and Public Affairs with hosts Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips of Project Censored. Producer: Anthony Fest. Engineer: Erica Bridgeman. The mission of Project Censored is to teach students and the public about the role of a free press in a free society and to tell the News that Didn’t Make the News and Why. This show was broadcast Live on KPFA last Friday.
