Free Leonard Peltier, Huey Newton Trial, Discontent in Brazil

In light of the recent death of author Peter Matthiessen, the program opens with a discussion of Matthiessen’s book, “In the Spirit of Crazy Horse,” and its importance to the campaign to free Leonard Peltier; the guest is Indigo Cantor, campaign manager with the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee.
In the second half of the program, retired California judge Lise Pearlman discusses her new book on the 1968 murder trial of Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton, and contends that it was the real “trial of the century.” Also on the program, a Validated Independent News segment about discontent in Brazil over the government’s lavish spending on preparations to host the World Cup.
