A fatal collision in Washoe County in Nevada will impact people traveling to Burning Man for several hours, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department said on Sunday afternoon.

The sheriff’s department said they are investigating a major, fatal collision in the area of County Road 34 and State Route 447. They advised people traveling to Burning Man from Reno to remain in Reno until further notice.

The Twitter account Burning Man Traffic said egress from Burning Man is being held while the accident is being cleared.

And the Burning Man Project asked people who’ve left Reno to turn around and go back if they have the opportunity to do so.

GERLACH, NV (KOLO)– Washoe Road 34 north of Gerlach is blocked because of a serious head-on crash, the Nevada Department of Transportation reports.

It asks people traveling to Burning Man to consider waiting if they have not left Interstate 80 yet.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said it is a fatal crash and it will take several hours before the road is clear again.

Burning Man organizers tell people not to try other routes. There are no other safe routes to Burning Man, organizers said.
