Following a nonfatal outbreak of measles that began at Disneyland, the California Legislature is debating a bill(SB 277) to outlaw parental choice about childhood vaccinations. The bill would apply to the measles vaccine, plus nine others. Today’s guests support vaccinations, but oppose making them compulsory; they discuss the issues involved from a variety of perspectives, including law, civil rights and medical ethics. Caitlyn Obolsky and Robert Krakow are attorneys; Elliot Cohen teaches ethics at Florida State University Medical School; Sharyl Attkisson is an investigative journalist; Lori Martin Gregory is editor of the Mom Street Journal.

Speakers: Caitlyn Obolsky, Robert Krakow, Elliot Cohen, Sharyl Attkisson, Lori Martin Gregory.

Broadcast from Berkeley–Hard hitting News and Public Affairs with hosts Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips of Project Censored. Producer: Anthony Fest. Engineer: Erica Bridgeman. The mission of Project Censored is to teach students and the public about the role of a free press in a free society and to tell the News that Didn’t Make the News and Why. This show was broadcast Live on KPFA last Friday.
