VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (December 1, 2009)—Christian broadcaster the Rev. Pat Robertson said Tuesday the U.S. should get out of Afghanistan.
On Tuesday’s broadcast of “The 700 Club,” Robertson said he not only opposes President Barack Obama’s buildup of U.S. forces, but also believes the troops already there should be pulled out.
Robertson dismissed Afghanistan as a corrupt “narco state” that’s ruled by warlords and roiled by “fierce tribes” who “like to kill each other.”
Robertson predicted the war in Afghanistan would prove to be a futile effort that draws tens of thousands of additional U.S. troops into a “quagmire” like Vietnam.
