EPISODE BREAKDOWN: On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the case of Marvin Lewis Guy, a Texas man who faces the death penalty after shooting and killing an intruder in his home who turned out to be a police officer participating in a no-knock raid. Abby then reports on a climate change rally that drew hundreds of thousands of activists to New York City over the weekend, highlighting the science behind the movement and the need to stop looking at the problem as a partisan issue. Abby then speaks to Eugene Puryear, organizer with the ANSWER coalition and DC city council candidate about US policy to arm moderate rebels in Syria, the spread of ISIS militants, as well as the changing political landscape across the Muslim World. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with NYU media studies professor, Mark Crispin Miller, discussing the addition of 5 books to the Forbidden Bookshelf, a project aimed at making important literature that has gone out of circulation once again available to the public.
