EPISODE BREAKDOWN: On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the killing of photojournalist James Foley by ISIS extremists in Syria. Abby then reports on the growing death toll in Gaza as Israeli troops are also targeting mosques, schools and agricultural sites. Abby then speaks with Mike Papantonio, attorney and host of the Ring of Fire radio show, discussing the ongoing unrest in Ferguson, MO, including the militarization of police and the case against Darren Wilson the police officer who shot unarmed 18 year old Michael Brown, which sparked the protests. Abby then reports on the case of Dick George, who was arrested for recording police activity but was later awarded $125K in a settlement, urging viewers to hold police accountable by recording abuse when it happens. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with Nimrod Kramer, one of the only foreign journalists who traveled to the Bahamas following revelations that the NSA had been conducting full audio surveillance of the island nation’s 370,000 inhabitants.
