The BFUU Social Justice Committee presents

STOP THE DRONE BOMBINGS!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2012

2:30 – 5:30 pm

A delegation of around thirty-five people from the United States went to Pakistan to meet the victim families of US drone attacks and they met with groups in opposition to drone strikes by the United States. The group of delegates, organized by CODEPINK, had a positive and welcoming response. The group participated in a protest in South Waziristan in October. The delegation met Fahim Qureshi, who lost four family members, his own eye, and had abdominal surgery after a drone struck near him. They met with Mohammed Ejaz who lost two family members in US drone attacks.

Toby Blome and Dianne Budd of CodePink will tell about the Drone Tour to Pakistan. See press coverage of the delegation:

The delegation met with Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Hoagland and had a breakthrough by getting him to talk specifically about US policy on the record. They delivered a letter and petitions during this meeting. The letter, signed by well-known people like authors Alice Walker, Noam Chomsky, Tom Hayden, Naomi Wolf, film director Oliver Stone, actor Danny Glover, columnist Glenn Greenwald, Nobel Peace laureate Jody Williams, professor Juan Cole, and FBI whistle-blower Coleen Rowley, called for “an immediate moratorium on US drone strikes.” They are taking their findings on a tour to report back to the American people.
