July 4th Special with Howard Zinn
As Americans celebrate this Independence Week, with the Fourth of July, and enactment of the Declaration of Independence, we review the Revolutionary War, and the very concept of “good wars” with the following analysis presented shortly before his death by the author of “A People’s History of the United States,” the late, great historian, Howard Zinn.
Zinn is heard addressing Cape Codders for Peace and Justice on war, along with a symposium, “Voices of a People’s History of the USA,” featuring Brian Jones reading a Fourth of July letter by the American abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Speakers: Howard Zinn; Brian Jones; Robert Knight. From a “Five O’Clock Shadow” production with Robert Knight.
The Anti-war Progressive Teach-in broaches upon some of the most highly charged subjects of our day—War & Peace, national healthcare, women’s rights, human rights, civil rights, torture, vets against the war, freedom, democracy, protest, demonstrations, etc. We scour the world to find and gather debates and presentations that are extremely informative and educational. Related subjects are also discussed. It provides key information for the uninitiated and the initiated alike.
