Big Mama Thornton’s “Ball ‘n’ Chain” performed with some friends musicians from the Buddy Guy’s band live in the 70s.

PS She wrote the song in 1965 and rumor has it she was happy when Janis Joplin made it a huge hit. Big Mama even helped Janis with her rendition–sisters to the bone. Love this bluesy version and Big Mama is a musical force responsible for writing some great songs including ‘You Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog’ another huge hit for Elvis Presley.

Part of the Sounds of The Sixties Summer of Love 1967.

See Janis Joplin’s version LIVE at Monterey Pop Festival 1967
