ECOSHOCK — Things to Do on the Way to Apocalypse

out there and way out there… We begin with a startling way to reduce carbon in the atmosphere. Dr. Peter Kelemen, of Columbia University reports from his field work in Oman. Then – are you dreaming of moving to the country? We get tips from Jill Winger at her Prairie Homestead in Wyoming. All that, plus a couple of answers for climate doubters, from Professor Jim White – in this week’s Radio Ecoshock.

In Oman, rock from deep below the Earth has been thrust up into the desert. This rock has not been in contact with the atmosphere, and sucks up carbon dioxide. Dr. Kelemen, the Chair of environmental studies at Columbia University, explains how that could help us REDUCE levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, when humans are ready to try and save themselves. Jill Winger went to Wyoming out of love for horses, but stayed to homestead, and raise her own food and children. Her Prairie Homestead has become a source of income – a transition that isn’t easy to do when moving to the country. We talk about what works, and what doesn’t. Then, from his presentation in January to meteorologists and weather people, Dr. Jim White gives us a couple of answers to questions that climate doubters often raise. It’s useful information.

Featured speakers: Dr. Peter Kelemen, Jill Winger, Dr. Jim White. Kelemen and Winger interviews by Alex Smith of Radio Ecoshock. Excerpt of Dr. Jim White recorded at Weather and Climate Summit in Colorado January 8, 2017, and presented by Maria Gilardin of TUC Radio
