ECOSHOCK —HEAT JOLT
Beyond record temps for Jan & Feb – losing normal — HEAT JOLT Global heat Jan & Feb hits hard, worries scientists. Bob Henson from Weather Underground explores the loss of normal. Australian scientist Ben Hankamer on new study: world will warm faster than you think.
The jolt. That’s what scientists are calling the absolute heat records set around the world in January and February of 2016. Expert meteorlologist and climate science writer Bob Henson takes us on a tour of the new normal. But hang around too for our second interview, with Australian scientist Ben Hankamer. He’s co-author of a new peer-reviewed paper that says warming will happen much faster than you think. Plus, Ben says, to avoid dangerous climate change, we need to cut emissions in half by 2020! Of course we can keep splurging on fossil fuels for a few more years – as long as we don’t mind keeping half the world’s people in utter poverty…
Speakers: Bob Henson, Ben Hankamer. Interviews by Alex Smith of Radio Ecoshock. Occasional music by Alex Smith. End clip from interview of Stefan Ramsdorf by Phil Stubbs of theenvironmentshow.com.
